Blog candy received from Sue in CT

Wow, Blogger has been a really big booger last night and early this morning, huh?  I couldn't even log in to post this.  :(  I was going to do one post last night and one tomorrow night, but I think this is going to be my last one before my trip.

So, I'll be gone for 3 weeks.  But not really!  Lol, I made a bunch of cards and have scheduled them to be posted over the next 3 weeks.  Plus, I'm pretty sure I can catch a wifi connection somewhere (pink lappy with be coming with me) so I'll be around and commenting on everyone's pages.  Let's just hope that I can turn in my papers for school on time!

Anywho, here is some blog candy I won from Sue in CT!

I promised I'd make a layout with the stamps, and that I did!  I'm making a scrapbook for my nephew so this is going to be one of his pages:

Card stock, ink, and ribbon is all SU.  The brand of the stamp set is TPC studios.  Never heard of them before, but their stamps are of high quality and stamps perfect!  The apple is cut from the Create a Critter cartridge and the background paper is from Martha Stewart school stack.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, SUE! I love it!

I was going to enter this in the Outlawz blue, green, red, challenge... but I realize that I'm SO late! Lol, that was due on Tuesday.  Oh well!

'Till next time, folks.  See you guys when I get to the mainland!

CAS Square Birthday Card

Here's the birthday card I made for my buddy.  I taped it onto a wrapped DVD for his birthday present.  I like attaching cards to gifts; especially if the gift is wrapped plainly.  A card, tag, and decoration all at once!

Noogies.  I didn't realize that the photo was blurry.  It was pretty overcast when I took a photo of it.  The stamp reads, "Happy Birthday (call when it's time for cake)."  Everything is SU! except the two brads.

I entered this into the Outlawz greetings challenge.  The card had to include 3 squares!

CAS 4th of July cards

I had to make a truck load of 4th of July cards and I have no cartridges with 4th of July related items (I have fireworks on Stretch Your Imagination, but I used them last year!) so I CASED a cute Uncle Sam punch art piece from this talented lady at Dostamping with Dawn.

Simple dimple Uncle sam made with 3 SU! punches.  Stars are cricutted from Plantin Schoolbook and embossed in gold.  Paper is by Deja Views and SU! I also used Peachy Keen's funshine faces for his cute little face and chalked his cheeks up.  Sentiment is an old SU! stamp set that I cut up to just say "celebrate."

Even though this is a simple card, I started working on the elements about a month ago!  I made all the Uncle Sams and gold stars a LONG time ago.  Sometimes working in bulk can be time consuming!

Melon shaped card

I bought a HUGE watermelon at the grocery store and eating it this week (by myself, mind you!) has put me in a watermelon card making mood!

(click for larger image)

The watermelon is from Stretch Your Imagination cartridge and I used my Gypsy to weld two postage stamp shapes from Gypsy Wanderings.  All paper and card stock is by SU!

I liked it so much that I made a look-a-like card:

Sending You Sunshine card for Ms. Pentoney

Madison over at Funky Cards is having a card drive for Ms. Pentoney, her high school English teacher.  Ms. Pentoney is on her 2nd round with cancer and she asked everyone in blog land to send one card her way so she can deliver Ms. Pentoney cards from all over the nation.  What a sweet girl with a sweet project!  So if you have some time or have a card in your stash, head on over to her blog and get involved.  There is still about a week left to get those cards to her!

(click for larger image)

I made this card with all SU! card stock and paper.  The paper was PERFECT!  On one side there are clouds and the other, water!  So I just split that into two and put it on the two halves of the card.  The sun is from Create a Critter and the hula girl I actually cut out from a business card I received. Sorry whoever gave it to me, I don't have your info anymore! LOL!  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms.  LOVE these stamps.  It stamped so perfectly!

Get Whale Soon and more blog awards!

One of my guy friends had eye surgery on Friday.  Poor thing couldn't even open his eyes so I helped him out.  He's a bit better today and can open one eye so I thought it would be a perfect time to send a card!  Tomorrow is also his birthday, so I'll post his birthday card tomorrow! :D

(click for larger image)

Just a simple card as boys don't really like frills.  The whale was cut out from the B is for Boy Cricut cartridge.  Paper is by K&Company and Stampin Up!

Going to enter this one in Creative Card Crew's ribbons and brads challenge (just in the nick of time!)

Father's Day Gift

Here's the Father's day gift that Sabotage the cat gave to my husband this morning:

(click for larger image)

Sabo the cat refurbished the tin with some designer paper and wrapped some twine around it.  The tin is filled with tea from a local loose tea shop and handmade red wine and sweet tea lollipops.

(click for larger image)

Sabo attached a card with a digi image of his favorite hang out spot; his Dad's boots. The digi is from Beccy's Place.

Trying out a new light source today.  And when I say light source, I mean another spot on the carpet on the other side of the window.  LOL!  I think it looks good, no?

(click for larger image)

I had the hardest time with this color combo.  Cream, dark brown, and silver.  I made this for the color Outlawz challenge this week.  There was a twist as well; we had to incorporate a stamp.  I chose a Thank You stamp because I'm going to be sending out quite a few this weekend!

The Teddy Bear is a digi from Beccy's Place.  All the embellies and card stock is SU! and the background paper is from Deja Views that I had left over from cards I made last week.

To a Fungi - Dedicated to Shar

This card is dedicated to one of my pals, Shar.  You can see her cute blog here at My Time to Create.  She wanted me to make something with Smiley Cards, so that I did!

(click for larger image)

The inside says "Happy Father's Day!"  I cut the mushroom out at 4", did some sponging, and added a corduroy button and printed pun.  I love puns!  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Tie card for Father's Day

I'm so behind on Father's Day cards!  They were supposed to go out yesterday to get out to my friends and family on the mainland on time.  Whoops!  Better late than never.  Plus it gives me a chance to enter all the Father's Day challenges this week. :)

I thought I came up with a *genius* idea to tie a ribbon on a card to look like a tie.  Unfortunately, tying a ribbon into a small knot tie is not as easy as I thought it would be...

(click for larger image)

(click for larger image)

Ah well.  It looks decent enough, I suppose.  Maybe a skinnier ribbon would've worked better, or perhaps a satin ribbon would've been easier.  I thought it was kinda cute!

A smile in a sea of sympathy cards

It was getting a bit depressing with all the sympathy cards I was making so I figured I'd make a quick and punny one to take my mind off of sadness.

(click for larger image)
I gave this card to my husband which made him crack a smile.  :)  I was pretty happy about that smile!

Colored this with markers... didn't come out as bad as my water color! The image is from MelonHeadz Illustrating.

More dirty watercolor and mail from Scrappy Mom's

More sympathy cards today and more dirty watercolor.  This digi is from Beccy's Place and she calls it "mum's flowers."  This looks like plumeria to me so I colored it pink because here in Hawaii we have pink and yellow plumerias. :) I like the pink ones.

(click for larger image)
I'm kinda silly and didn't match my pinks even though I have all the SU! colors.  I think I just had a brain fart from so many sympathy cards.

On a happier note, my prize from Scrappy Moms came in the mail!  Woohoo! Check this out:

I do not own any of her stamp sets but these look like high quality H2O!   I can't wait to make a card with them.  I won the Spring Fling stamp set and spring is over but I'm thinking I could make at least one of these sentiments work.  And I'm really excited about the pink acrylic blocks!!!  It wasn't as pink as I thought it was going to be which makes it just pink enough for a pinkaholic to have but not too pink that it distracts from seeing your image.   And I dig the shape/finger grips!

Tomorrow I'm participating in an Autism walk.  Waking up early and super excited about it! :) Have a great weekend, my online pals!

Stampin Up! Sympathy Card and a Party at The Outlawz

The reason why I like SU is because their stuff always makes my stuff look like a million bucks because everything matches and stamps well.  I spend so much money on SU that I actually signed up to be a demo just so I could get the discounts!

(click for larger image)
This one is just super simple and reproduced really well.  I could make a few of these cards with just a few sheets of card stock.  I don't have any sympathy stamps (because I feel like its bad juju!) so I thought that this stamp would suffice.  Everything is SU except for the background paper which is by Deja Views.

Entering this in the Outlawz CAS challenge which is a pick-and-choose recipe: brown, turquoise, kraft, paper piercing, and ribbon.

And for those of you that don't know, the Outlawz are having a party!

Check us out, we'll be doing challenges and giveaways and prizes!  I <3 PRIZES! :D

Cherry Blossom Sympathy Card

We all know that my "art" regarding coloring digis leaves much to be desired... so I've created my own new technique to disguise my flaws... I call it dirty watercolor! I distress sponge my digi first over the entire thing, making it muddy and brown.  Then I watercolor the image mixing colors with the muddiness, creating a vintage-y distressed look.  Look, you can't see my horrible coloring!

(click for larger image)

Now that I'm looking at it, I realize that I forgot to distress the sentiment piece.  Whoops.  The image came from Beccy's Place.  She lends her images for free, she's such a sweet woman!

Beer Card

I haven't posted in a couple of days.  I haven't known what to say about anything since Saturday when my BIL passed away in a car accident.  I cried for a few days straight and now it's time to create those sympathy cards...I don't know what to even write inside of them.

I'm the type of person that needs to talk to people when I'm upset. I'm very grateful for my one girlfriend who called me to check up on me and cried with me on the phone. She is truly a remarkable friend and I'm very blessed to have her in my life.  All you need is one really good friend!

I know I have all of you, my online friends, who keep me smiling and I'm so thankful for all of you too.  The one thing that got me through this weekend was reading everyones blog updates and looking at all your cute crafts. :)

So, this week I'll be posting my sympathy cards (and probably keep busy by *attempting* to color more digis!) but for now, I'll post a card I made before this weekend happened.  A fun beer card for my Uncle!

Red Cupcake Card

Today is a very ugly, ugly day in Hawaii nei.  Really bad thunderstorm.  My power went out this morning and when I was driving to the office all of the street lights were out.  Thank God people drive with Aloha when that happens!  Last night my toilet went on the fritz as well.  As I was about to fall asleep, my valve just erupted and sprayed water and flooded my entire bathroom.  Thankfully, my husband (being in the Navy) recognized the sound of rushing water and was there in a flash.  Lol, I thought it was the sprinklers going off or something!  So lots of cleaning in the middle of the night... and wet kitty litter sucks to clean...

Anywho,  my guy pal in Washington had a bad day yesterday.  It was his birthday and he was nowhere near friends or family.  He also got a call that his grandfather passed away, so when I contacted him to wish him a Happy Birthday, he was just about to jump on a plane home to Florida.  Poor thing.  On a happier note, I sent him this card which will be waiting for him when he gets back:

(click for larger image)

The cupcake was cut out with the Smiley Cards cartridge.  The sentiment is to remind him of a very unfortunate incident that scared the living daylights out of him when he ate cupcakes a few months ago at my husband's birthday party.  They looked like this:

(click for larger image)

Aside from the Sucker Punch picks (made with the Indie Art cartridge), I'm sure you can figure out what happened to him after he had a few of these cupcakes... LOL!

All about gratitude

***********Only a day and a half until my giveaway closes!  Enter it here on this post!*************

This post is all about gratitude.  I made some thank you gifts for the gals that helped me out during my first weeks at my new job.

(click on larger image)
Orbit Gum Holders.  These are from myself and another new girl.  Lol, she bought the gum and I prettied them up!  Everything is SU!

(click for larger image)
This one was for a friend that works in a school where I was having training.  Couldn't visit her empty-handed! Just very simply wrapped with SU! ribbon and stamp that was punched out.

And last but not least:

I won a gratitude journal from Diana at DL.Art

Isn't it so cute?

Diana is a really talented artist and she made these to giveaway to her followers.  The papers are gorgeous and she used Peachy Keen stamps to decorate.  Thanks so much, Diana!
